Garrett Heskan and his Brevic officers have taken sixteen incarcerated pilots. The move was not only to save the aviators from their own government, it was the first step in a bold plan to keep Heskan's promise to Isabella Lombardi and her captured Hollaran crew. Secretary Brewer and his Internal Security agents believe Jack Truesworth is the ringleader of the Brevic renegades, bent on revenge against Bree and Hollara alike. As agents try to locate the escapees, Heskan plays a dangerous game from inside Brewer's circle, attempting to move Lombardi closer to freedom.

Securing Lombardi's future is only half the responsibility that Commander Heskan has shouldered. Should Vernay, Selvaggio, Truesworth and the rest of his crew survive their run, they will need a safe haven outside the Republic. The Hollaran Commonwealth, Solarian Federation, and a myriad of corporate systems are among the options, but what is the best future for a wanted crew of Brevic military veterans who can never return home? Heskan owes his loyal followers that answer.

Loyalty to the Cause is Book 4 in the This Corner of the Universe series, continuing the story of Garrett Heskan and the original crew of Anelace.

Loyalty to the Cause TCOTU Book 4 This Corner of the Universe eBook Britt Ringel

A great follow-up to the previous installment. This book was not so much about the battles, but rather how does one maintain ones honour when it conflicts with personal loyalty to ones government - Heskan and the surviving crew members of Analace and Kite try to figure out how to do just that in this latest book. The characters, plot developments and the TCOTU universe are becoming more fleshed out. As always the science and battles are crisply described and keep the reader engaged and wanting more. All in all another well-written book by Ringel.

Loyalty to the Cause TCOTU Book 4 This Corner of the Universe eBook Britt Ringel Reviews

Exceptional.... Read all 5 books in a row. Thoroughly enjoyed.
It is truly remarkable to find a book in this price range that doesn't have glaring grammatical errors, yet here were none that I could find. But that's just a side note. Loyalty to the cause provides no drop off from the previous novels, from the beginning to the Rio-roaring finale. If you liked the previous installments, get this one. You'll like it!
Great read!
Four and a half stars! What a terrific book! I had a very hard time putting this book down, especially the second half. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was that it jumped right in after the third book and while the story could mostly stand on its own you really need to have read book three in the series to fully appreciate all that is happening.

The characters seem to have more depth and dimension and even the villains have personality. This almost feels like a different author than the earlier works. The only reason I know that this is still Ringel writing; is the intense and thoroughly choreographed battle scenes. Ringel avoids his earlier 'shock waves in space' but keeps everything else. No one I have read seems to have a feel for how relativity would effect battles in space like Ringel (Jay Allan comes closest but he generally sticks to fleet actions and not 'knife fights').

This book has intrigue, drama, and lots of action. It also has the characters to pull it all together.
This series has taken a far different turn than I imagined from the first and second books. Sometimes this book can seem to progress slowly, but the authors detail and day to day living is still enjoyable to read about. Looking forward to final book of the series.
I'm tempted to give it five stars, but I just can't.

I really enjoyed the experience until the final conflict. Without revealing too much I found the decisions made by the characters involved to be a little absurd. I understand that it refers to Italian warfare of the 1200-1600's but it seemed a little ridiculous. Hopefully if this series continues (as it appears to) it will make more sense.

Still, an entirely fun book to read!
As the 4th Book in the series, the reader should already have a feel for the writing style of the author. The book is well edited and a good continuation of the storyline. The first half of the book was a little difficult to get through but leads nicely to a major plot change and what should lead to the final installment. The second half of the book is worth the wait and full of action. I will buy the next (and perhaps last) installment in the series.
