There was nothing I disliked. These books were reminiscent of Ann McCaffrey, JRR Tolkien and Steven R. Donaldson. I was captured immediately by the characters in The Soul Sphere. And then by the travels fraught with danger, holding my breath as though I were watching a movie. The courage and strength of the army was breathtaking. Every time a new group joined the army I cheered inside my heart. Seriously I fell in love with these characters and how they all came together as one to do battle for their people, the land and all living creatures. Thank you Mr. Adams!Product details

Book 2 of this series is just as good as book 1. The writing is crisp and clear and entertaining. Some lucky movie producer will be the first to find these gems and make a classic. The cast of characters is wonderful and the plot is riveting. The author's imagination leaves nothing to be desired.
The story may be a little too frightening for the very young, but for adults and teens this is a well written fantasy.
Not since I read the "Lord of the Rings" has a series so drawn me in!
"The Soul Sphere" novels griped me and I did not wish to be let go.
But, alas just as all great quests must draw to a conclusion, so also this series.
I feel only sorrow at not being able to return to Arkania.
A wonderful inspiring read, couldn't put it down!
This book kept me going. Page by page it held my interest like a book from the masters. Definitely worth a red. The characters are decent and the feeling of friendship rules it all.
I enjoyed the first book, but I thought this was an even better book. Not sure why, as most of the same engaging characters are involved. I suppose the book builds to a single climax and I couldn't wait to get there?? Like all great books, it's pretty depressing to finish as I feel like I'm leaving a really good friend (or a bunch of them). Both books are worth reading, but PLEASE be sure to finish the series after reading book one!
This two book series was written in the right way. What I mean is, book one sets up the quest and book two finishes it. Quick and too the point. Typical good v s evil. Very good character development and interactions. Author used minimal amount of words to convey images. And it was done splendidly. I've read other series where authors take 4 or 5 books to convey their visions to the reader.
I got the epic adventure feeling in two books.
The Final Shard is a well written sequel to the Soul Sphere. I kept flipping pages and really got caught up in the world of Arkania, especially the journey of each main character and their respective armies to vanquish the Dark One. As was true with book one, the author has an infectious writing style that kept me interested in all aspects of the story (from traveling to different lands, fighting creatures, and character interaction).
The story is serious in tone, however the author has a knack of inserting witty barbs between characters that appears to serve as a mechanism for the characters to deal with the stress of the journey and impending doom.
Both books were well written, very enjoyable and would definitely recommend.

To be honest I would have enjoyed this more as an actual ending to the first book instead of a book all itself.
The time between my reads must have lost my memory of character building because this one lacked much of it. This is a bare bones telling of a classic fantasy ending. I have found over my many years of reading to appreciate the unimportant things in a story. They really flesh out the characters and create a more reliable story...really one that you FEEL for the characters and what they are going through. I found that this tale while having moments of deep emotion, I was not feeling the same as the characters.
I got the first book free and had to move to the conclusion and really am not disappointed. If you read the first you knows that this tale is lacking something that other authors seem to have me glued to the story, characters, and world.
Sometimes I am put off by the many details, but with only the minimal I felt as if I was really missing out on a large part of the tale.
I must say though that the revelation of the enemy was quite good...still missing that emotional investment..but differing a bit from other tales.
So..all in all..if you read the first and have the short time to get through this...I recommend that you go ahead and read it as quickly after the first as possible as I believe it will give you the best effect, but wish that from the start they were joined from the start.
